9:17 am - c.o.re. [6g]: election endorsements
|
pretty much following the green party line, except for the native gaming measures...
president - cynthia mckinney (and since the dems allow independents to vote their slate (not sure if greens can, but will ask at the polling station), barak obama)
prop 91 - no
prop 92 - yes
prop 93 - no
props 94-97 - yes
edit: i've decided to abstain on the gaming propositions. either decision at this point is more flawed than i'm convinced i'm able to weed through at this point.

12:38 am - c.o.re. [6g]: tribal panel discussion on the gaming propositions
|
for those so inclined, the subject event will be held this evening at the intertribal friendship house in oakland.
i will be attending and recording the program (pending approval by the ifh council), so if you are undecided on these propositions, and interested in the perspectives of many of our area tribes, i will either have it available as an mp3 afterwards - or be able to report on it.

some of you have recently mentioned a desire for legal consultation.
tonight's "your legal rights" program includes a "call a lawyer" feature wherein you can call in with general legal queries. take advantage...as it were.

if you've read or heard of the book "dharma punx", you may know of noah levine. last week, thanks to a nudge from <lj user="jessicaberlin">, i began attending the sf dharma punx gatherings and discovered that noah will be speaking at this friday's session.
if you aren't aware of noah or his book, there is info here: http://www.dharmapunx.com/
below is the announcement for tomorrow's meeting (which i'll miss due to plans with uncle ted in calistoga).

4. 'Meditate and Destroy' A documentary featuring Noah Levine San Francisco Premiere * ONE NIGHT ONLY * Wednesday, November 14th @ 8pm The Victoria Theatre 2961 16th St @ Mission, SF, CA 94103 (415) 863-7576 Admission: $10 regular, $8 students Advance ticket sales: www.victoriatheatre.org www.meditateanddestroy.com Noah Levine and film director, Sarah Fisher, in person. Event will include a screening of "Death Row Art Star", a 10 minute short film by Aron Ranen. After-party for all to enjoy - details TBA. We aim to pack the house so that funds raised will allow us to continue spreading the film in so many communities. The M&D 108 Rampage tour will reach nearly 30 cities worldwide. 'Meditate and Destroy' is an 81-minute feature documentary on meditation teacher and author of 'Dharma Punx', Noah Levine. After a self-destructive adolescence of criminal activity and substance abuse, Noah is now a devout Buddhist. This provocative documentary provides a personal portrait on this unique individual by showing how he uses his punk rock sensibilities to teach others the path of spirituality and community service in urban centers around the country. 'Meditate and Destroy' features interviews with Jack Kornfield, Ajan Amaro, and Stephen and Ondrea Levine. Tattoos, motorcycles and Buddha are featured in this hard-hitting look at how Buddhism has a place in the world of punks. This edgy, but serious documentary provides an intimate account of how Noah has utilized Buddhism to guide him from a life of addictions, self-destruction, and violent behaviors, to a place of insight. * * * * * * * * * * *

9:29 am - vinyl record cleaning
|
dear faerie goth mother,
we have a saturday routine of transferring our album collection to mp3 format during the morning chores, and have considered the purchase of a vinyl record cleaner such as this or this.
today's question (since, as of late, keeping current on such matters has not been an occupation of choice) is if you have opinions on the use of such things or more recommended options?

in addition to our core safety crew, i'd like 3 or 4 more people for backup and other stage support for sigil.
you'd be assigned specific roles (fire safety, stage prop transitions, and such), during a half hour to 45 minute shift during one of the performances, and would be comped into the show, of course.
for fire safety, i'd want either previous experience, or for you to attend an orientation during set up on the 28th. for other roles, we'd simply need you to show up at a specific time.
if interested in this for friday (and possibly future events), email me - lucci at well dot com.

hmm... perhaps i should also ask randy what he'll be competing with.
